Libraries have always been important to me.
Long before I became an author, I was a library patron. Growing up, the library was where I discovered new stories and found books that I never would have picked up otherwise. Even now, I still think libraries are one of the best community resources we have… which is why the very first thing I did when I got my paperback copies of Welcome to Seagull Street was to donate copies to my local Howard County, Maryland, libraries, and the Ocean City, Maryland, library.
One of the tradeoffs of enrolling Welcome to Seagull Street in Kindle Unlimited in September 2025 was that Amazon requires ebook exclusivity. That meant I had to remove the ebook from IngramSpark distribution, which also meant it was no longer available to libraries through those channels.
That never sat quite right with me because I want readers to be able to discover the book wherever they prefer to read, including through their local library.
I’m excited to share that Welcome to Seagull Street is now part of Draft2Digital’s new library-only ebook distribution program. The ebook is available for library acquisition through OverDrive/Libby, cloudLibrary, and BorrowBox, with hoopla expected to follow soon.
I’d love a small favor: please consider requesting Welcome to Seagull Street through your local library app. Even if you’ve already read the book, library requests help librarians understand what their patrons are interested in and can make a real difference for independent authors.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this book over the past year. Whether you borrowed it, bought it, recommended it, reviewed it, or simply told a friend about it, I appreciate every bit of it.
If your library adds Welcome to Seagull Street, I’d love to hear about it! I’ve read hundreds (maybe thousands?) of books through my library’s OverDrive (now Libby) app… and it was so exciting to see my book listed in the app and to recommend it just now!
Happy reading!
